Temporary Suspension of Public Access to the Interior of Hirosaki Castle's main tower
Beginning Monday, November 24, 2025, public access to the interior of Hirosaki Castle's main tower will be temporarily suspended for several years.
During the ongoing stone wall restoration project, the keep had been relocated to the center of the Honmaru area and remained open to visitors.
With the completion of the stone wall repairs, the next phase will involve returning the keep to its original location, followed by comprehensive preservation and seismic reinforcement work—the first such major restoration in approximately 70 years.
As a result, Sunday, November 23, 2025, will mark the final day of public access to the castle interior before this temporary closure period.
[Closure Period for Interior Access]
From Monday, November 24, 2025, until further notice (expected to last several years)
Please note:
The “Japan’s Top 100 Castles” commemorative stamp is available at both the Hirosaki Castle Information Center and the Green Consultation Office.
The official castle seal (Gojōin) can be purchased at the Hirosaki Castle Information Center.
